Training 5,000 Youth as Africa's Next Generation of Restoration Leaders

VIA Foundation's Restoration Leaders programme has trained over 5,000 young people across six countries in nursery management, agroforestry, remote-sensing monitoring, and restoration project finance since it launched in 2022.

Graduates go on to found their own restoration enterprises, join partner organisations as field technicians, or become community trainers themselves — creating a multiplier effect well beyond the programme's direct reach.

The programme is now VIA Foundation's largest single source of new green jobs, and a growing share of the Foundation's own field staff and grantee leadership are programme alumni.
