Woman Development Initiative (WDI)

WDI promotes women’s socioeconomic development and environmental protection in Burundi. It mobilizes local agro-pastoral groups, local ministries and government agencies, and international organizations to conserve and restore forests and help communities adapt to the effects of climate change.

WDI will use its TerraFund grant to provide rural households with seedlings that will transform into wood-producing, fruit-bearing, and crop-protecting trees. This will enhance food security and improve community incomes, building on their decades of work. This project takes place in Commune Mubimbi of Bujumbura Province
