Rights and Advocacy Initiatives Network (RAIN) is a Ghanaian non-governmental organization established in 2019, dedicated to fostering a resilient environment through rights-based approaches in agriculture, natural resources, and environmental sectors. With a focus on community rights, inclusive forest governance, climate-smart agriculture, and gender empowerment, RAIN has built a reputation for effective advocacy, capacity development, and policy interventions. The organization is recognized for its strong local partnerships, particularly with the Forest Services Division, and its commitment to community-driven restoration and sustainable livelihoods.

The proposed project aims to empower farmers in two forest fringe communities near the Fum Headwaters Forest Reserve in the Bosome Freho District by integrating forest restoration with sustainable livelihood development. Through climate awareness campaigns, reforestation of 32 hectares using the Modified Taungya System and agroforestry, and prioritization of indigenous species, the project seeks to enhance biodiversity, sequester carbon, and improve economic opportunities. Activities include stakeholder engagement, capacity building in nursery establishment and tree management, support for agroforestry and apiculture, and formalization of benefit-sharing arrangements. Continuous monitoring, knowledge sharing, and inclusive participation of women, youth, and migrants are central to ensuring the long-term sustainability and community ownership of the restoration efforts.
