Obaatanpa Nyame Nti Ltd (ONNL) is a Ghanaian company dedicated to sustainable forest restoration and community development. Founded in 2009 and led by a professional forester, ONNL has over 16 years of experience in establishing diverse forest plantations and providing consultancy services in forest management, wildfire control, nursery establishment, and community extension across several regions in Ghana. As a founding member of the Private Afforestation Developers’ Organization, ONNL has played a significant role in advancing restoration efforts both within and outside forest reserves. The company’s integrated approach, which includes a grocery branch to support financial sustainability, has created substantial employment opportunities for youth, women, and vulnerable groups in rural communities, reflecting its commitment to transparency, participation, and social inclusion.
The proposed project aims to restore 80 hectares of degraded land within the Bosomkese Forest Reserve through a community-driven approach that emphasizes biodiversity recovery, climate resilience, and improved livelihoods. ONNL will engage local stakeholders, including traditional leaders, women’s groups, and youth associations, to ensure inclusive participation and respect for local customs. The project will provide training and resources to farmers, promote agroforestry and beekeeping as alternative livelihoods, and create both permanent and casual jobs. Restoration activities will include nursery establishment, planting of indigenous species, regular maintenance, and fire management, supported by continuous monitoring and adaptive management. By integrating ecological restoration with social and economic benefits, the project seeks to build a resilient model that empowers local communities, enhances biodiversity, and supports long-term forest conservation in the Bosomkese area.
