Ngeli Ventures Limited, operating as Ngeli Foods, is an innovative organic food company in Kenya with a strong focus on apiculture conservation and the production of high-quality bee products. Over the past four years, the organization has established itself as a leader in integrating sustainable agriculture with environmental restoration, particularly through its work with smallholder farmers. Ngeli Foods is recognized for its commitment to empowering local communities, especially women and youth, by promoting agroecological practices that enhance both livelihoods and ecosystem health.

The proposed project aims to restore up to 80 acres of degraded farmland in Kilungu, Makueni, by planting 25,000 climate-resilient and indigenous trees over three years. The initiative will improve soil fertility, boost biodiversity, and reduce land conversion pressures by training 300 smallholder farmers—half of whom are women and youth—in climate-smart farming, agroforestry, and sustainable beekeeping. A tree-linked incentive scheme will reward farmers who maintain multipurpose trees with premium honey prices, while community restoration committees will oversee tree care and protection. The project will also establish nurseries, apiaries, and a digital monitoring system to track progress, ensuring high tree survival rates and linking restoration efforts to increased household incomes and enhanced pollination. Through continuous mentorship, digital traceability, and market linkages, the project seeks to create lasting environmental and economic benefits for the region.
