NFI’s mission is to empower local agricultural cooperatives and reduce food insecurity in the DRC. Recognizing that food production is tied to environmental degradation, the organization is committed to addressing this dual challenge. NFI’s primary activities include regenerative agriculture, food security, clean energy, forest restoration initiatives, and investment in rural women.

The institute will use this grant to create sustainable forest reserves in villages within the territories of Uvira and Walungu, establish community nature clubs in target villages, and train local leaders in the target villages on the importance of sustainable tree planting and management.
