Kimplanter Seedlings and Nurseries Ltd is a Kenya-based commercial propagation company with eight years of experience in land restoration and climate resilience. Their mission centers on equipping smallholder farmers, particularly in semi-arid regions, with climate-resilient seedlings and practical knowledge to restore degraded lands, enhance food production, and improve nutrition. The organization has built a strong network of 27,000 smallholder farmers and is recognized for its community-driven approach, providing high-quality seedlings, hands-on training, and ongoing support to empower vulnerable populations and promote sustainable livelihoods.

The proposed project aims to restore 450 hectares of severely degraded land in the semi-arid regions of Murang'a and Kajiado South, Kenya, by planting 150,000 trees and implementing a community-led agroforestry model over six years. The initiative will integrate fruit and exotic trees to improve soil health, reduce erosion, and boost food security, while empowering women and youth through training in agroforestry, mixed farming, and beekeeping. Activities include community mobilization, nursery expansion, farmer training, large-scale tree planting, and the establishment of local "Agroforestry Champions" for peer support. The project will use digital monitoring and regular on-site visits to ensure tree survival and provide real-time support, with performance-based incentives to encourage long-term community engagement. Expected outcomes include increased farm yields, higher household incomes, enhanced biodiversity, and measurable contributions to climate change mitigation.
