Jeunesse Providence, operating under the mission of AGAKURA, has three decades of experience empowering disadvantaged youth and their families through sustainable land use and agro-ecological practices. The organization is dedicated to building human, technical, and entrepreneurial capacities, with a strong focus on gender parity and youth engagement. Their expertise includes reforestation, soil erosion control, and biodiversity conservation, particularly through training and hands-on restoration activities such as establishing anti-erosion structures and maintaining woodlands. Over the years, they have made significant contributions to protecting degraded areas and agricultural lands, fostering both environmental and community resilience.

The proposed project targets the sub-hill of Giheta in Nyempundu, Mugina commune, aiming to promote sustainable land and resource management among approximately 200 households. The initiative will organize these households into a mixed association to manage watersheds and micro-woodlands, focusing on reforesting and protecting four small Ruhwa catchments and stabilizing riverbanks of three tributaries with bamboo planting. Activities include agroforestry interventions, such as planting trees and fruit species, establishing vegetated contour lines to reduce erosion, and providing training in agro-ecological practices to improve local livelihoods. The project also supports income-generating activities for women and youth, such as vegetable cultivation and fruit processing, while ensuring ongoing community engagement, monitoring, and adaptive management throughout the implementation period.
