Horizon Business Ventures (HBV) is a Kenyan company with eight years of experience in sustainable enterprise, focusing on essential oils production that integrates biodiversity, business, and community wellbeing. HBV’s mission is to provide high-quality, eco-friendly products while promoting economic and environmental sustainability in rural areas. The organization is recognized for its commitment to ethical sourcing, social impact, and fostering positive ecological change, positioning itself as a trusted brand that balances consumer health with environmental stewardship.

The proposed project will restore 130 hectares of degraded land in Marmanet Forest and nearby farmlands through community-led reforestation and agroforestry. HBV will partner with local community groups and farmers to raise and plant 110,000 trees, with a focus on regenerating native species and valuable shrubs for essential oil extraction. The initiative includes training over 300 households in sustainable harvesting and marketing of non-wood forest products, integrating agroforestry to protect the forest and enhance farm productivity. The project’s workplan involves establishing nurseries, preparing sites, phased tree planting, and developing complementary livelihoods such as beekeeping and eco-tourism. Ongoing community-driven maintenance and monitoring will ensure high tree survival rates and long-term ecosystem health, while HBV’s processing facility in Nanyuki will create market incentives for conservation. The project aims to improve climate resilience, biodiversity, and local livelihoods, offering a scalable model for nature-based enterprise and restoration.
