Friends of Environment and Social Development (FESD)

FESD is a Rwandan non-profit organization that was established in 2018 by 33 local environmental activists. It equips communities to be at the forefront of forest restoration and environmental conservation through tree planting, restoration projects, and agricultural training.

With a TerraFund grant, FESD aims to restore the degraded lands of Rwanda’s Nzahaha Sector. While it plans to work with all residents, the organization will focus on women-led households, training them to establish community sapling nurseries and personal kitchen gardens.
