Established in Rwanda in 2012, FHA is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing restoration across Rwanda’s Gishwati Forest, which has lost nearly all of its tree cover. The group engages local communities in restoring protected areas, improving livelihoods and reducing human-wildlife conflicts, all with the goal of turning the Gishwati Forest into a National Park.

With this grant from TerraFund, FHA will implement a new project in the area designed to empower local residents, provide training on seedling production and tree growing, and build resilience to climate change through intensive restoration.
