FDINDA is a diversified Rwandan company with a decade of experience in sustainable macadamia farming, organic fertilizer production, livestock rearing, and animal feed. Committed to ethical and environmentally responsible practices, FDINDA supports local growers by distributing macadamia seedlings and purchasing harvested nuts, which are processed for local sale. The organization has established itself as a leader in the sector, integrating innovation and sustainability to empower communities, create employment, and promote premium quality nut production. Its track record includes significant engagement with smallholder farmers and a strong focus on community enrichment and environmental stewardship.
The proposed Green Growth & Community Empowerment Initiative in Karongi aims to advance climate-smart agriculture, value addition, and community resilience. FDINDA will establish a modern tree nursery to produce 90,000 macadamia and agroforestry seedlings, planting a portion on its own land and distributing the rest to smallholder farmers to restore 430 hectares. The project includes setting up a macadamia processing facility to convert nuts-in-shell into export-ready kernels, diversifying income for over 1,000 farmers. Livelihoods will be further enhanced through apiculture, empowering at least 100 households—especially women and youth—by integrating beekeeping for pollination and honey production. Training sessions will build local capacity in nursery management, climate-smart practices, and apiculture, while organic fertilizer production will improve soil health. The initiative is designed to sequester carbon, support Rwanda’s climate goals, and foster a resilient agroforestry ecosystem, positioning FDINDA as a catalyst for sustainable, inclusive growth in the Karongi region.
