Emfed Farms is an agricultural services company founded in Ghana in 2012. It provides full-farm management services to smallholder cocoa farmers who cannot take care of their land or pay upfront management costs. The business improves soil fertility, eliminates pests, and strengthens existing cocoa trees by pruning, composting and planting other tree species that provide shade.
Investment from TerraFund will bolster Emfed’s efforts to plant tree species that provide ecosystem services and support biodiversity. The company's agroforestry practices will reduce soil erosion, retain water, and boost economic vitality in the process.
