Founded in 2021, DREK is a women and youth-led relief organization that supports underprivileged community members. It aims to address the impacts of natural resource degradation due to deforestation, grazing, and other human activity.
A second grant from TerraFund will enable DREK to restore the heavily degraded watersheds of Nyandarua County, which support cities as far as Nairobi and Garissa. By planting fruit trees, which will stabilize the soil with their roots, the group will ensure a steady supply of food and clean water for local communities.
