Conservation Cocoa Association is a well-established organization with over a decade of experience in environmental restoration, climate change mitigation, and community empowerment. Their mission centers on solving environmental challenges, promoting sustainable land use, and advocating for the rights of marginalized rural communities. With a strong track record in forest landscape restoration and environmental awareness, they have demonstrated institutional capacity and a commitment to integrating local communities into conservation efforts.
The proposed project aims to restore degraded forest landscapes in the Bia West district by establishing nurseries of native tree species for afforestation and implementing agroforestry practices with indigenous timber species and assisted natural regeneration across ten communities. The initiative will build the capacity of 300 off-reserve farmers in sustainable forest and agroforest management, develop alternative livelihoods in the target communities, and monitor ecological, social, and economic outcomes of the restored areas. Activities include stakeholder engagement, site assessment, nursery establishment, tree planting, alternative livelihood development, and ongoing maintenance and evaluation to ensure long-term ecosystem health and community benefits. The project emphasizes ecological restoration while supporting local livelihoods, though it could further enhance functional diversity by incorporating multi-purpose native species.
