Since its establishment in 2005, COSEO has cultivated over 5 million saplings in the rolling hills of Kenya’s Baringo County. The organization’s expertise also lies in bamboo seedlings, which it has sold and donated for planting within degraded sections of the Lembus Forest watershed.
With this grant, COSEO will carry out a degradation survey and develop a restoration plan for the Lembus Forest. By controlling soil erosion with trees and bamboo, the group will protect the streams that feed into the nearby Lake Baringo, a vital water source for the Greater Rift Valley.
