Communities of Hope

Founded 10 years ago in Burundi, Communities of Hope transforms landscapes and lives by providing low-income families with land, seeds and other forms of support for sustainable living. The organization has engaged 36,000 community members in their activities over the last three years and grown 120,000 trees.

Communities of Hope will use this grant to restore land in Burundi’s Bubanza and Cibitoke Provinces by expanding agroforestry, silvopasture and reforestation around Kibira National Park. This area, long degraded by slash-and-burn agriculture and excessive logging, will start to see a greener future.
