Since 2015, CCAO has fought to protect biodiversity, promote socioeconomic development, and safeguard vulnerable ecosystems in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. CCAO employs a climate justice model, working especially with indigenous communities to build long-term climate resilience.
This second TerraFund grant will allow CCAO to expand its restoration work in the Rusizi Basin, bringing life back to an area that thousands of people rely on for food. The group will collaborate with indigenous committees to establish nurseries and monitor planting progress, putting them at the forefront of decision making.
