The Association pour le Développement Intégral des Communautés (ADIC) is a Burundian organization dedicated to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction, with a strong focus on supporting rural communities in agriculture, environmental restoration, livestock, education, and health. With nearly two decades of experience, ADIC has established itself as a trusted partner in community-driven development, emphasizing participatory and inclusive approaches that integrate gender and equity. The organization is recognized for its commitment to improving access to productive resources, enhancing agricultural output, restoring degraded environments, and building local capacity, consistently placing people, land, and sustainable profit at the center of its mission.

The proposed project aims to restore 241 hectares of degraded land in the Gikomero sub-hill through a combination of tree planting, sustainable agriculture, and community-based economic initiatives. ADIC will engage local communities in every stage, from selecting tree species to implementing restoration activities such as establishing nurseries, planting trees, and constructing soil conservation structures. The project will promote agroecological practices and set up six Farmer Field Schools to disseminate sustainable farming and forestry techniques, while also supporting food security through the cultivation of staple and high-value crops and small livestock. Economic resilience will be strengthened by forming six Village Savings and Loan Associations, enabling beneficiaries to save, access credit, and invest in income-generating activities. The initiative prioritizes the inclusion of women, youth, and indigenous groups, aiming for significant improvements in land restoration, food security, and community livelihoods, with a strong emphasis on local ownership and long-term sustainability.
