Ahadi Achievers Empowerment (AAE)

In 2021, fifteen local development leaders from Kenya’s Makueni County came together to form AAE. Now, this community-based organization works with over 39 community self-help groups. Its mission is to empower and improve the quality of life of local communities through sustainable development initiatives, youth and women empowerment, and social inclusion.

With this grant, AAE will create five unique “village ecosystems” in Makueni, each comprising a diverse group of women, youths, and local decision makers. After a ten-day training program, these leaders will champion restoration in their communities by establishing tree nurseries and teaching others to care for the land.
