Advocates for Biodiversity Conservation (ABC) is a non-profit organization based in Accra, Ghana, dedicated to biodiversity conservation and the mitigation of environmental degradation, with a strong emphasis on supporting sustainable livelihoods and empowering women in agriculture. With six years of experience, ABC has built partnerships with government agencies, private sector actors, communities, and civil society organizations to promote sustainable forest management, climate-smart practices, and landscape restoration. The organization integrates environmental conservation with social equity and economic development, and is recognized for its community engagement and capacity-building initiatives.

The proposed project aims to restore ecological function and enhance climate resilience across 1,250 hectares of degraded cocoa farmland in the Lower Bosomtwe area. The initiative will establish 120,000 native and multipurpose trees to improve canopy cover, soil fertility, and long-term farm productivity. ABC will empower smallholder farmers, youth, and women’s groups through training in nursery management, agroforestry, and sustainable livelihoods such as bamboo crafts and beekeeping. Restoration activities will be aligned with local and national development strategies, and community structures will be strengthened to ensure ongoing stewardship and maintenance. The project emphasizes participatory mapping, capacity building, and the integration of monitoring systems to support both environmental and socioeconomic outcomes.
