Action pour la Protection de l'Environnement et la Promotion des Filières Agricoles (APEFA)

Established in 2008, APEFA aims to build resilient farming systems and long-lasting food security in Rwanda. The group focuses on giving vulnerable communities the knowledge and tools that they need.

With this grant, APEFA will work to restore and protect the banks and watersheds of the Rusizi River. By training local farmers to grow bamboo, silky oak, and fruit trees among their crops, the organization will improve water quality for all who live near the river basin.
